Born in Bangalore with Goan roots and now based in Mumbai, Nikhil Pires is a cinematographer working across narrative films, documentaries, commercials, and music videos. His graduation film Nauha was an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival (La Cinef) in the year 2022 and he was nominated for Best Cinematography at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

Nikhil approaches each project by first understanding what the story demands emotionally, thematically, and rhythmically. Rather than imposing a fixed visual style, he searches for the visual language that feels most truthful to the material.

Drawn to everyday textures, memory, and human vulnerability, his work often leans toward images that feel intimate, immersive, and emotionally grounded. Across formats, his aim remains consistent: to create frames that deepen the audience’s connection to the story.
